Introduction to the Department of Plant Protection (DPP)

The Department of Plant Protection (DPP) was founded for the first time in 1993 and started to accepting students in Plant Protection. Currently, the council group consists of nine academic members of the faculty (one in professorship, six in associate degree and two in assistant professorship). In addition to admitting undergraduate students for bachelor science degree in plant protection, the group also educates students in different aspects of agricultural entomology and plant pathology in master science degree and furthermore two trends for PhD in plant pathology including plant pathogens prokaryotes and mycology and fungal diseases of plants. The group has seven active educational and researchable laboratories including bacteriology and microbiology Lab., molecular plant pathology Lab., mycology Lab., general plant pathology Lab., toxicology Lab., general entomology and acarology Lab., and laboratory of classification and systematic of insects. So far, more than 500 bachelor science, 73 master science students and five doctoral students have been graduated from this group. Currently, 100 bachelor science, 56 master science students and five doctoral students are studying at the DPP. Until today, the results of education and research at DPP have been provided over 1,000 scientific articles in internal and external journals as well as at various scientific conferences. The implementation of dozens of research projects is also part of other activities of the DPP members. The DPP with having four experts and seven laboratories of entomology, toxicology, systematics, acarology, mycology, bacteriology and plant pathology is teaching to respected students.
